Business Need:
At this point in time, the business needs expertise in the Writing Systems field to maintain our competitive edge in the marketplace, and to ensure that HP Image Quality and systems are World Class and continuously improving.
Primary Functions:
Define, invent, and lead WS related projects and processes in order to deliver on HP Image Quality needs and performance.
Utilize best practices and approaches, leverage leanings across new product developments, such that Writing System Robustness is delivered to each new product development / introduction, utilizing experience from other products and activities.
Develop an atmosphere of continuous improvement and “Best in Class” processes and systems.
Provide technical leadership where necessary to drive development / improvement in the writing system robustness, liaison with other groups / offsite partners to ensure successful delivery of product objectives and timelines.
Writing System Engineers play lead roles in multi-discipline teams working on new products and solutions for printing and imaging. You will design, implement, test, and validate systems and components to deliver optimized image quality, throughput, and reliability for our printers.
Writing System Duties and Responsibilities:
Writing System Engineers play lead roles in multi-discipline teams working on new products and solutions for printing and imaging. You will design, implement, test, and validate systems and components to deliver optimized image quality, throughput, and reliability for our printers.
The job content will include some of the following responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and optimize algorithms to deliver desired image quality, throughput, durability, and reliability
- Design and run reliability tests to maximize print head performance and maintain image quality over the life of the printer
- Develop creative solutions to ink / media interaction issues
- Understand and develop solutions for system performance issues that affect customer perceived image quality
- Develop the key print head control parameters which ensure image quality at maximum throughput
- Set up and run prototype hardware to answer key feasibility questions
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with other disciplines and strategic partners

Job Requirements:
Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD. degree in an Engineering/Science related discipline
High level of analytical decision making and problem solving skills
Experience with multiple operating systems (e.g., Linux, NT, HP-UX)
Preferable experience using programming languages
Strength in experimental design
Demonstrated understanding of project management tools, qualification techniques, etc, as utilized in an environment of continuous improvement.
